Beneath the Cerro de San Miguel lies what is undoubtedly the most intricate and astonishing complex in the entire Cidacos Valley: the Cueva de los Cien Pilares. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when insecurity in the valleys forced inhabitants to seek refuge in safer places—either in the mountains or literally beneath them. During the early medieval period, the cave very likely housed the Monastery of San Miguel within its chambers.

🚶 Departure of the visit

Meeting point: Tourist Office (Paseo Constitución, 38). Please arrive ten minutes before the reserved time.

The walk to the Cueva de los Cien Pilares is done on foot and always accompanied by a guide, who will make several stops along the way to provide explanations about the surroundings, history, and other points of interest. The walk takes approximately 15 minutes and follows city streets with low to medium difficulty. Along the route, visitors will encounter two uphill sections that require a bit of effort but are accessible for most people.
